Four years ago, a parent and I designed a garden that would be planted with the birds in mind. This garden would be on school grounds, in an easy-to-access area. It is also right out side of my classroom! The garden is approximately 40’ by 15’. The garden was constructed over two weekends by volunteers, including a local scout group, the PTO, the Town DPW, and parent and student volunteers. This outdoor classroom is now used by all three grades in the school for various, cross-curricula purposes. We add bird feeders to the garden in the winter and observe the birds that visit and participate in Project Feeder Watch.
