Each fall my students undertake a research project whereby they go to selected web sites I have put together to research a local, migratory bird. They must learn its field marks, diet, approximate fall migration route, problems the bird faces, and other interesting facts about their bird. The project culminates with a field trip to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge (Plum Island) in Newburyport, MA where the students, under my direction, try and locate and observe their bird.
