For the past 14 years, I have led a series of bird walks in my home town. These walks, known as “Spring Bird Walks in Reading” are held from 6 – 8 AM on Sunday mornings, beginning with the last Sunday in April and running through the first Sunday in June. They are publicized in the local newspaper, on the local cable TV station, and by posters in the Town library. The walks are free and open to all. We visit different Town-owned properties, and while our focus is birds, we also are observant of other flora and fauna. Often, I will have students and their parents attend one of these walks.
